Slave Cabins

"He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him" Daniel 2:22.

When I was a little girl we lived out in the country and were constantly searching for things to do. One day we found a little row of old rickety cabins which we believed were old slave cabins. Those cabins held a mystery and fascination for us and we were constantly returning to those cabins. We assigned certain truths about those cabins and what must have occurred during the days they were inhabited. Because we didn't know the truth we manufactured our own truth. Life in those cabins represented a darkness to us and through our imagination we breathed life into its hidden past.

We do the same things as Christians. We face deep and hidden things that we know nothing about and manufacture our own agenda, will and purpose. It is only when we place these things under the authority of God that He may light up the truth of any matter in our lives and show us the reality of what lies within. Pumping our own beliefs into a situation doesn't make it truth!

We must enter our cabins with a blank slate allowing God to light up the corners of the cabin to show us the reality of our seasons. Where we see old and rickety cabins God sees potential beauty.

As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

This was part of the Covenant Renewal at Schechem made by Joshua to the elders at Israel, for their heads, for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

As we present ourselves before God each and every day, he spotlights those things in our lives that need changing. Accordingly we need to take the necessary action to walk in the light as He reveals to us those things that are displeasing to Him.
