God's Lantern

"Then Jesus told them, 'You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going. Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light.'" John 12:35-36.

This is a basic boy scout staple - BE PREPARED! How simple this statement is but how easy it is to live life reactionary instead of being prepared. I live in the country and many times have been without power. If a storm was rising I would get things accomplished before it hit ensuring if we lost power I would be prepared. I would make sure I set the matches out, pulled out the candles, loaded new batteries in the flashlights and put them in our room and the rooms of the children. Even being prepared never helps the frustration of the dark because there is still an absence of complete light.

Our Christian walk should be more than just laying out the candles and matches when we sense a storm. There should be a daily and intentional effort of time spent with our Father so He can supply us with the continual power, warmth and light throughout our days whether there is calm or chaos. Through our efforts of reflecting His light we become light for others so they can see as they walk through their darkness.

Never estimate the power of your light!

Our prayer this morning Father is that the light of your love will glow this morning in the hearts of Beth and Paul, giving them courage and strength, as they prepare for the scans.

Thank you Jesus for your light this morning.
