Sealed In Love

He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put His spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” 2 Co. 1:21-22

One of my all-time favorite gifts when I was a little girl was a stationery set given to me by my parents. It included a box of decorated pages with matching envelopes. What made this set so special was the colorful stick of wax and the stamp with a ‘B’ impressed on the bottom. I would heat up the end of the wax and allow it to puddle where the envelope flap and envelope met. Then with gentle and precise pressure I would lower the stamp into the liquid sealing the envelope with my initial. The wax would harden securing the contents giving me confidence that my message would remain secure.

With tomorrow being Easter I cannot help but to draw the parallel of the shedding of Christ’s blood for each of us. His life on earth was one of always being in the shadow of the cross. Every moment was a teaching and serving moment as He knew His ministry on earth would be short. He lived sacrificially and with urgency, each day facing new fires. The heat of His life being under the inevitability of His death set up a tale of love and redemption – the most beautiful love story ever lived.

His sacrifice for each of us was marked with a crimson puddle at the base of the cross. We are now covered with Christ and sealed by His crimson mark. No one can remove our standing in Christ for the work on the cross was complete and the seal will remain unbroken. Only One is worthy!

'And they sang a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation”…In a loud voice they sang: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain…to him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” Rev. 5:9, 12.

“…and the elders fell down and worshipped.” Rev. 5:14
